Clayton Wood raises money for children’s bereavement charity
Clayton Wood Natural Burial Ground has this month donated over £300 to a local children’s bereavement charity.
A wreath making event was held at the burial ground on 13 December, with 40 people attending. The donated money was raised from ticket sales and donated to the burial ground’s charity partner Winston’s Wish, which gives hope to grieving children.
The wreaths were then either taken home by the attendees, or left at a memorial area for others to enjoy.
Teague Hickman, Team Leader at Clayton Wood Burial Ground said: “We are extremely proud to have been able to donate this money to Winston’s Wish. So many children are affected by bereavement, more than a lot of people are aware, so we chose to partner with this wonderful charity, which provides much needed support to them. We would like to thank everyone who came along to this lovely event.”
Clayton Wood is a tranquil natural burial ground, which opened in 2008 below the Jack and Jill Windmills. The woodland burial site at Clayton Wood has various dedicated areas for full natural burial and cremated remains, as well as memorial scattering lawns, surrounded by native trees for future generations to enjoy.
Clayton Wood is one of the few natural burial grounds to be situated within a National Park and provides a peaceful place for family and friends to visit.
Clayton Wood is working in partnership with the Wildlife Trust to develop a long-term conservation plan for the site, as part of its commitment to sustainable management.
